The annual Windcrest Light-Up is a decades-old tradition in which residents decorate their homes with elaborate displays of holiday lights. A contest is held to pick the most beautifully decorated homes in various judging categories and the public is invited to drive along neighborhood streets to view the brightly lite displays. This event is made possible through numerous volunteers, Windcrest Economic Development Corporation and the Windcrest Women's Club.

Thousands of visitors from San Antonio and the surrounding area come to see the free lighting event every year. Light-Up begins with an opening ceremony in mid-December and lasts through New Year’s Eve.  This year is the 53rd Annual Light Up celebration for Windcrest. 

Each year a map is organized and produced courtesy of the City of Windcrest which features Light-Up winners and what categories each has won.  Maps are made available to the public at Windcrest City Hall, 8601 Midcrown.
